The War In Afghanistan
JOE RYAN HAS CONSISTENTLY AND UNEQUIVOCALLY OPPOSED THE WAR IN AFGHANISTAN, MILITARY OPERATIONS IN PAKISTAN, AND OTHER ANTI-TERROR STRATEGIES THAT ARE DESTINED TO CREATE SUPPORT FOR TERRORISM AND OPPOSITION TO ASSOCIATED US FOREIGN POLICY OBJECTIVES
Nothing illustrates the stark difference between Joe Ryan, the Independent candidate for congress and Duncan Hunter jr., the sitting representative in congress for the 52nd District, than they're approach to fighting terror. Duncan Hunter is convinced that we should fight a huge full-out war in Afghanistan. He latched on to the GOP's 'surge' lexicon, and he has stated over and over that we need to do a troop surge in Afghanistan. I guess you can't blame Hunter jr since he was just a kid in kindergarten when the Russians tried to win a war in Afghanistan.
Those who don't pay attention to history are deemed to repeat their mistakes. Duncan Hunter must know about the history of Afghanistan and what happens to armies that try and conquer that land, but he apparently just won't accept the lesson history is trying to teach him. Joe Ryan concluded several years ago, that the United States would, inevitably, be forced to declare victory and withdraw from Afghnaistan. Then the Taliban will take over again, and the entire episode will represent a gigantic waste of money and lives.
Joe Ryan's Opinion regarding How we should Combat terrorism
Joe Ryan Believes effective enforcement of Immigration Laws, and Control over all ports of entry & borders, is the most cost efficient, and also - by far - the most effective way to combat terrorism
Joe Ryan believes that the least expensive, and most effective way to fight terrorism is to strictly limit and control who enters the United States, who is allowed to stay here, and who might eventually be allowed to become a resident or citizen
Joe Ryan believes the US must concentrate on containing terrorism by containing and restraining international movement of terrorist and persons supporting any Jihad related agenda. Every episode of terrorism occuring on US soil begins with someone who just stepped off a plane from Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Pakistan, or a similar known hot-spot. 9/11, the Chritmas Day episode, and the recent Times Square bombing attempt, all could, and would have been prevented by strict enforcement of laws concerning entry to the Unites States, and the conditions for staying here. Joe Ryan believes we cannot afford to spend enormous amounts of cash, and expend other valuable resources, searching the world for every single person who espouses terror or who wishes they were a terrorist, especially when the actions we take in foreign lands, perpetuate acts of terrorism, and intellectual support for Jihad against the United States.
