HOW JOE RYAN MANAGES TO FIELD A MILLION-DOLLAR $$$$ POLITICAL CAMPAIGN, ON A SHOESTRING BUDGET
First, compare what Joe Ryan accomplishes for the money he spends on his campaign, versus what Duncan Hunter gets for the money he spends on his, in order to judge whether Joe Ryan is fielding a campaign that equals Duncan Hunters.
| Joe Ryan |
Duncan Hunter |
| Amount of Money Raised and spent since 2008 |
$3,800 spent since March of 2008 |
Approximately $1.500,000. million dollars spent since March of 2008 |
| Presence on the Internet |
Joe Ryan personally created and operates four separate campaign websites, along with three additional websites devoted to particular issues. Seven websites total, with a connection to his campaign, containing at least 100 separate pages of web content. Joe accomplishes all this for next-to-nothing by handling all his campaign's webwork himself. |
Duncan Hunter has One website for 2010 with just a few pages and links, and a small leftover website from his 2008 campaign. Possibly 10 webpages of content on the web in total |
| Campaign Vehicles |
Joe Ryan uses his 20 foot long Ford E-350 as his main campaign vehicle. He spent neraly $1,000 dollars in 2008 having it turned-out in campaign slogans and signs. He spent an additional $60.00 dollars having his signage fixed and updated for the 2010 campaign. |
Duncan also uses his personal vehicle to campaign and to appear in parades in. It's a nice new heavy duty pickup truck, which he has adorned with two magnets (about $40.00 a piece from Vista Print) announcing his campaign. |
| Creation of Speeches, Policy papers, and Talking Points |
| Done by Joe Ryan |
Done by expensive, paid staff |
| Coming up with Campaign Signs & planning deployment of signs |
| Done by Joe Ryan |
Done by crew hired for task |
Joe Ryan has spent less than 5k to run so far in 2008 and again in 2010 (combined!); meanwhile, Duncan junior spent every one of the million dollars he took in since 2008. For all the money he's taken in, All Joe Ryan has seen is a few stock, 'Duncan Hunter for Congress' signs here and there. He did manage to buy a small magnet to announce his campaign temporarily on the side of his truck. Nothing like what Joe Ryan has accomplished with his campaign van; but hey, a million dollars doesn't go far these days.
Joe Ryan could sponsor a candidate in ALL 435 congressional districts for a million dollars! What does that tell you about who would respect the taxpayers by not throwing money away pointlessly (on things like 'signs that tell people nothing' and 'a large staff).
Joe Ryan knows how to save a buck; meanwhile Duncan junior has spent his million like a proverbial 'drunk sailor on leave'. He's out of touch with what a million dollars represents, and he's only been in Washington DC a couple years.
